Beth Jenkins, Chair, Board Term 2022-2025
Beth is a certified school counselor and 6-9 credentialed Montessori teacher who relocated to Mitchell County in 2021. She divides her time between NC and FL, where she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
Rachel Smith, Vice Chair, Board Term 2024-2027
Rachel is originally from Philadelphia and has lived in the area since 2013. Rachel worked at Penland School of Craft for 7 years (part of that time in the local schools) and now works full time from home with HMP Global. Her child is enrolled in the toddler program at SPMS.
Sarah McDowell, Secretary, Board Term 2022-2025
Sarah is an artist who grew up in California and lives in Celo now with her family. Her oldest child graduated from SPMS in 2022 and her youngest is currently enrolled in the elementary program.
Courtney Dodd, Treasurer, Board Term 2023-2026
Courtney is originally from Missouri and has lived in the area since 2005. She is a glassblower and works as the Programs Manager at Penland School of Craft. Her child is enrolled in the toddler program at SPMS.
Jenni Dellinger, Board Term 2022-2025
Jenni Dellinger grew up in Spruce Pine and is a teacher in Mitchell County Schools. One of her 3 children is enrolled in the primary program at SPMS.
James Roeder, Board Term 2025-2028
James Roeder spent seven years teaching at an independent school before becoming a full-time software engineer. He currently lives in South Toe and has two children enrolled at SPMS.
