SPMS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Kevin Cox, Chair and Treasurer
Kevin grew up in Memphis, TN, and has been part of the Mitchell County community since 2003. He worked as an engineer and a manager in Information Technology for 30 years before retiring from Wells Fargo in 2020. He previously served as a board member and treasurer for Mitchell County Animal Rescue. He has two granddaughters who attended SPMS.
Lindsey Canipe, Secretary
Lindsey teaches in Mitchell County Schools and lives in Spruce Pine with her family. Her children attended the primary program at SPMS.
Jenni Dellinger
Jenni Dellinger grew up in Spruce Pine and was a teacher in Mitchell County Schools. One of her 3 children is enrolled in the primary program at SPMS.
Courtney Dodd
Courtney is a glassblower and works at Penland School of Craft. Her child is enrolled the toddler program at SPMS.
Sarah McDowell
Sarah grew up in California and lives in Celo now with her family. Her oldest child graduated from SPMS in 2022 and her youngest is currently enrolled in the elementary program.
Beth Jenkins, Vice Chair
Beth is a certified school counselor and 6-9 credentialed Montessori teacher who relocated to Mitchell County in 2022. She divides her time between NC and FL, where she enjoys spending time with her granddaughter.
